We finally arrived in Thailand and let me tell you .... traffic here is WAY worse than seattle people! The taxi ride to the hotel was worse than the flights. Mainly because we were so sick of traveling and just wanted to be there already. Also some of you may know that I have a bit of car anxiety and I had to get over that pretty quick because drivers here are fearless. We finally got to the hotel and Emmy (who is my best friend for those of you who do not know) and her boyfriend James were already at the hotel.
We settled in a bit before we went out for some food. Quick side story: Some of you know that my biggest fear for this trip was getting sick! So I talked to a bunch of people about ways to be careful. Don't drink tap water, brush your teeth with bottled water, avoid pre cut fruits and vegetables, avoid red meats, etc. You get the point. So what is the first thing I do when we get here? Brush my teeth with tap water! I caught myself early but still .... I am an idiot haha.
We went to a restaurant down the street from us and I got the pad thai. Casey was adventurous and got steak. So I don't if it was because I was so hungry and tired that anything would have tasted like a 5 star meal to me but that pad thai was AMAZING! After getting some grub we stopped at 7/11 (which is on every corner here). The four of us relaxed on our deck with some thai beer for a bit and then decided to go to a Muay Thai fight. This was so cool. There were 9 fights and I was so exhausted I slept through the first two :) Emmy got me a coffee and I was good to go. I have never been to a fight before and let me tell you, this was a great experience. We sat ring side which was even better.
Now my favorite part of our first day was after the fight. We took a Tuk Tuk (sp?) home. SO MUCH FUN! This one was definitely only made for two people but the four of us squeezed in there. Such a blast. Overall great first day. OH AND the view from our room is AMAZING!
