Our last days in Thailand

So I'm sad to say that we leave tonight to head back home.  Although I am excited to see friends and family, I am sad this adventure has come to an end.  So to catch you up on our last few days.   We took a ferry back to Krabi on Saturday morning and stayed at Bananas, the same hostel we were at before.  If any of you go to Thailand and find yourselves in Krabi, STAY AT BANANAS! This was by far my favorite place we stayed.  Also SO CHEAP! It is very quiet and laid back.  It was perfect for the last bit of our trip.  The taxi picked us up and then we stopped to get another couple who were also going to Bananas.  They were from England, Connie and Stephen, and we ended up hanging out with them the next couple days.  WE MADE FRIENDS. At Bananas there is not really a beach there but a dock out to the water. We ended up going to a beach called Secret beach.  Ollie, the owner of Bananas, offered to give us a ride to the "trail head."  So Casey and I, as well as Connie and Stephen, got in the truck and headed there.  This beach was called Secret beach for a reason.  We headed up a gravel road a ways then had to look for blue arrows spray painted on trees.  We almost missed it but found the dirt trail.  This took us to a ledge which you could see the ocean and some of the islands.  It was beautiful.  Now to get to the Secret beach you had to climb down a very steep dirt hill with ropes to help us.  There was nobody there, which was awesome! This beach was so beautiful and quiet.  We swam for a while and explored a bit before we headed back for dinner.

So Ollie does group dinners with everyone at the hostel at 7 every night.  It was always delicious food! So we had dinner after the beach and during dinner a storm came! I was so excited because I LOVE STORMS! So we ended up playing cards with Connie and Stephen for a couple hours and played the best game of jenga I have ever played! (Casey lost in case you were wondering)  I can't remember if I wrote about the florescent plankton in a previous blog or not but later that night Casey and Stephen went swimming with them.  It looks a lot like sparkles or fairy dust.  And the stars were once again INCREDIBLE! I could not stop staring.

The next day was my birthday :)  I have to say this was a pretty incredible birthday.  I missed my friends and family quite a bit but I got to spend it in a different country with my wonderful husband and new friends.  We got up and had some breakfast and I had already made an appointment to get a Thai massage that day.  Connie got me a birthday card, which was so nice! It totally touched my heart! We had known them for less than 24 hours and she got me a card! So nice! My thai massage was amazing! It was in an open bamboo hut thing and it was quiet and relaxing.  After my massage we took a kayaking trip with Connie and Stephen.  This was close to one of my favorite things we did in Thailand.  They took us through the forest and we saw these amazing tall cliffs and caves.  We stopped at a beach called Monkey Bay and saw a couple mama monkeys with their baby monkeys.  It was a very fun and relaxing experience.  We had dinner back at Bananas and then after dinner the Bananas Team made me a huge birthday pancake (yes a pancake) with a candle in it and sang happy birthday.  Overall it was a wonderful birthday!

We leave today to start our journey back home.  I cannot tell you how thankful I am for this adventure Casey and I were able to have.  It was more than I could have imagined.  I told him that I feel like traveling is like getting tattoos.  After you get your first one you just want more.  I want more travel in my life! This was an experience I will never forget.  Thank you to everyone who read our blog throughout our trip.  It was so much fun sharing this experience!
