So on Wednesday the 1st we headed to Krabi, which is near the islands but still a part of the mainland. Our flight was too late to catch a ferry to Koh Phi Phi island so we stayed in a hostel called Bananas. This hostel was the best hotel/hostel experience we have had! The owner is a german man named Ollie who is the nicest person! We stayed in a bamboo bungalow. It is in the middle of nowhere but it has everything you need and Ollie will set anything up for you including a taxi, or tour, or any excursion you want. They also have a kitchen open all day so you can eat whenever you want and at 7 every night Ollie does a "family buffet." This was cool because you got a chance to meet other people staying there. We met some really awesome people. The weirdest thing is that Ollie did the food on the honor system. Meaning you wrote down what you ate in a book and at the end of your stay you pay the total tab. Late at night Casey and I went out on the dock and there were florescent plankton. "glowing fish." This was the coolest thing I have seen. Casey went swimming and it looked like he was surrounded by fairy dust. I can't even describe it great but it was pretty magical. Because this place was in the middle of nowhere and not near any sort of city, the stars were insane! I don't think I have ever seen so many stars in my life. I sat on the dock for quite a while just staring at them. Thursday we took a ferry to Koh phi phi island. This island is absolutely beautiful. It is incredibly touristy in comparison to where we have been. It reminded me a lot of waikiki, Oahu. We spent thursday afternoon and friday exploring the island and having some relaxing beach time. Let me tell you, there are cats everywhere on this island. Casey loved it. I told him people are going to think he is a "crazy cat lady" if he keeps taking cat pictures. The markets here are never ending. We did a lot of exploring friday night and had a lot of fun people watching and just walking around. I do have to say, Casey and I have not been super impressed with the food on Koh phi phi island. All the restaurants have two menus, Thai food and Western food and it just is not very good. We had much better food up north and in Krabi. The view makes up for it though. I can't get over how beautiful it is here. Oh and the tides here are CRAZY! When the tide is low you can basically walk out to the middle of the bay and the water is still only to your ankles. It is so weird but so cool. Tomorrow morning which, is Saturday for us, we are headed back to Krabi until Monday. We only have a few days left of this great adventure! Can't believe its already almost over.
